Students learn how to collect data using methods including interviewing, focus groups, participant observation, and documentary and historical work. The course is intended for students with no previous experience of quantitative methods or statistics. During your first year you will attend and contribute to the Department's Research Student Seminar 1 and research training courses. These are designed to strengthen your methodological skills, language skills or background knowledge of specific topics related to your research.


Identifying supervisors is part of the selection process. Due to the high volume of enquiries, potential supervisors are normally unable to provide feedback on enquiries and outline proposals.
